I forgot how much of a PITA stock intake systems are

I'm done prepping my car for sale now. The last thing to do was to take off the aftermarket front strut tower brace and Injen cold air intake.

Here's what it looked like with the nice chrome items in the engine bay... (I miss it already )

And after about 6 hours (!!!!!) it got to this point. There's so much crap in the stock intake system, and it's all crammed in there. It was so easy to see everything, and work in there. If the CAI needed to be removed, it took 10 minutes. Now it would take MUCH longer.

There's no sound from the car now either... I need a new car. I'm bored with this one now.

Get the Altima SE-R? :-)
What are you think of? Going from a nice modded Maxima, don't feel like staying in the family?

Just out of curiosity, why did you take off the cold air intake? They seem to be a pretty common "mod" and I dont think anyone would NOT buy a car for having one. Maybe thats just me though.

I felt that if I tried to sell it with the CAI on the car, most people would feel that it was driven hard. If someone thinks that a car has 165000 hard-driven miles, they won't want it.
And plus, I could get that box of factory intake parts out of the garage, and sell the Injen intake.

And I'm looking to get a cheap, economical car for commuting for the next two years. I'll be living approximately 100 miles from my parents, and about 180 miles from the rest of my family (Chicago area). I'm actually looking at a 2002 dark blue 5spd ZX2 tomorrow, and I am serious about buying it if the car impresses me. I can get 8-10mpg better with that, and run on regular gas vs. premium that the Max takes.

LOL, just saw your other post. I totally hear ya with putting the stock one back in and selling the injen. If I were looking for a used car, I'd look for a grandma type seller. Good luck with your Zoom Zoom pursuit !

Haha I just had a call already about the car. I just put it out on the street with FOR SALE signs less than an hour ago.

Oh yeah, just a tip, keep the CAI and strut brace on hand until after you sell the car. Then you can judge by the person coming to look at the car if they would be interested in something like that, and offer it at extra cost, or as a little bit of give in the negotiation process. You could even offer to install.

A buddy of mine did that with his RS Impreza with wheels & CAI, and it really helped the sale, IMHO. IIRC he got his asking price, which was a bit inflated, but he was anal and the car was nice.
