Manual vs. Automatic Transmission; Which Do You Prefer?
Which type of transmission do you prefer manual or automatic. Some automatics give the driver the feeling of shifting through the gears. However, using a manual tranny and shifting through the gears, bringing that tach up to the red line and chirping the tires is a different story.

At my age and a bad left hip , plenty of horsepower and torque, high-performanced tuned transmission, faster 0-60' ( most street encounters) and faster 1/4 mile E.T - 4 spd automatic.
Needless to say I do miss manual on those back road excursions but not in traffic.

Those Manumatic, steptronic, and clutchless manual Transmissions would be my choice.

Manual for SURE. I don't mind putting up with the city stop and go driving.
But I'm sure a lot of people on this forum buy cars for different reasons than I do.

Hmmm....interesting question. If I was given the choice to live my life always in an automatic or always in a standard I'd have to have the standard. Maybe I wouldn't feel that way if my redline wasn't up past 8000. I'll admit that when I'm in a traffic jam I'd rather be in an auto but I can endure it because of the times that I'm not in traffic jams.

I'm a motorcycle guy at heart so I prefer a manual tranny.

Well, let me think about it. I've owned a Lotus Europa with a 5 speed, BMW 320i 4 speed, Ford Bronco 5 speed, BMW 325e 4 speed, BMW M3 5 speed, BMW M5 6 speed, gee I guess I like the manual !! I got my wife an automatic though.

Manual...manual...manual... but the Cobra clutch is murder in traffic. I have never felt a stiffer clutch pedal!

I have a Tiptronic 5-speed in my S4 and love it. Everything else is manual.
