So hard to find a red VTEC!
I was planning to buy a used red Honda Prelude VTEC built from 93' to 96'. I didn't realize how hard it would be to find them! I've gone to cars.com, autotrader.com and automart.com and I only came up with one, a 96', but the guy wants $10,000! Luckily, I'm in no hurry to get one. I figure if I wait a little longer, like maybe up to a year, the prices should fall due to depreciation. However, I would appreciate any suggestions on where else I can look on the web.

I've been looking for a '02 white/black S2000 with red interior with low miles, those Hondas hold their value very well.
Have you tried carmax.com?

Ebay maybe.
They are fairly rare with the engine that you are looking for. How about an integra GS-R? They are much easier to find and modding them is very easy. Parts are cheaper as well.

Yeah, red is a desirable colour for Honda's over in the UK too, I'm currently looking for a Milano Red Integra 'R, or Accord 'R, but they all seem to be Silver, Championship White or Black !
Just out of interest, what sort of prices are Honda's selling for in the US, in the UK, my 1999 5G Prelude is worth about £6,750, which is about $11,800 - is this the sort of prices would you guys be paying ?
In the UK, a low mileage S2000 (02) are selling for around £18,000, which is equivilent to $31,500......what about in the USA, bearing in mind that we get stung for anything car related, tax, high insurance and fuel !

Like ebp said, there weren't many made and lots of those got wrapped around poles by snot nosed kids that were in over their heads. Good luck finding one and getting a good one at a good price. My ex sold her '93 in '97 with looooooow miles and in perfect condition for 11K and it still had a valid extended warranty.
Nick, that's just a little less for an '02 than we pay for a NEW '05(~33.5K).

I wasn't aware that they would have cars that old. I'll look into it.

I only want the Prelude. It's a sentimental thing. I had a red 92' Prelude Si for ten years before getting an 02' TL-S. I wanted the VTEC model since it came out in 93'.

I know what you mean. I had every mod under the sun on my G2 Integra and my girlfriend would just drive away from me without really even trying in her bone stock '93 VTEC Lude.

I did find a 95' that had 120,000 miles on it. It was a private seller down in Miami. He wanted $6000. The problem I have with it is that it's black. My TL-S is already black and I really wanted Milano Red!!! It is a new paint job though. I keep wondering if the guy just took it to Earl Scheib for the $99.99 deal!

Hey bud, I had a 1994 RED Prelude Si from Sept 93 to Jan 03. I loved it! (Her name was Cheryl) She was rebuilt from the ground up in 1999 with pure JDM parts (she was stolen and stripped) a brand new VTEC engine, New leather interior, and a brand new milano red paint job (2 extra clear coats - it took 4 weeks t get it back from the paint shop)
I love my Audi, but this was my first true love.
I reccommend the 94-96 models as they have the digital gauges and a more functional backseat. You will love it!

Dont know if it matters to you, but the red Preludes are single stage. I detailed one many years ago with AIO, and tons of red paint came off on the applicator and the towels I was using. The paint looked great once the oxidation is removed though.

Actually, the VTEC wasn't all that fast. If I recall correctly from a long, long, looooong time ago,(about 12 years!) Car and Driver tested the VTEC in a coupe shootout and the VTEC only did 7.2 from 0-60. With that time, my TL-S would blow the VTEC away. However, after driving the Si for ten years and then driving the TL-S, I find that although the TL-S is faster, it isn't necessarily quicker. The handling on the Prelude was quick and precise. It was just a lot of fun to drive, especially when taking a curve. I really miss that. Besides, I just can't afford to get an M3! (Not yet, anyways!)
