noice when accelerate

does anybody know what are the causes of this problem?
i have a 95 corolla. recently, everytime i accelerate my car, it makes this loud noise. the noise doesn't last and it doesn't make that noise everytime i accelerate, but it makes offen enough that it gets annoying. does anybody know what the are possible causes of the noise? it's finals week, and i need the car for school. i will take it to the mechanic after finals, but i wonder how long i can drive it without screwing up the car too much.
thanks.

It depends on what type of noise it is. What does it sound like? The only thing that would damage the engine is detonation or knocking. It would almost sound like a machine gun or something like that. Otherwise I would not worry too much about it.

Also, does it happen when the motor is up to operating temps?

I have a 92 Honda Civic that makes a tapping noise when it's cold. My mechanic told me that the noise is coming from the injectors. It goes away when the motor heats up.

its like a loud clicking noise everytime i accelerate. it doesn't sound very safe at all, so i got it fixed. mechanic said he replaced a couple of wheel bearings. $300...i cried after i paid him.

If it continues it's probably your inner CV joints. Wheel bearings are a pain anyway. Not a fun DIY.
