As a kid, I got exposed to a wide variety of music. I used to wake up listening to a lot of classic rock and old R&B. Then with me working with (and at some points as) a DJ, my tastes in music expanded.

For the over the hill, 50+, age group I listen to most anything Jimmy Buffett. Parrot Heads unite!!!! Any singer that proclaims
"Lets get drunk and screw" can't be all that bad

Danger Zone from the Top Gun soundtrack. Oh yeah! That song really motivates me to drive from San Francisco to Los Angeles (400+ miles one way).

I also like driving to ...Rush...
at night on the open road.
Spirit of the Radio always gets me in a good mood when I'm driving. My drivers side airbag makes a great drum.

Cool

Have you seen the latest Applied Materials' commercial? It shows a Porsche Turbo ripping up Highway 1's Big Sur coastline and sliding sideways through the corners. The soundtrack is one of my old favorites. Space Station #5 from Montrose, featuring Sammy Hagar on lead vocals.

clic pic to listen

.....and there's more

Another song I like driving to is "Spring Affair" by Donna Summer. For me, it's a nice little highway song. I also cut loose playing 2 of Dan Hartman's tracks (Vertigo/Relight My Fire and Instant Replay).

Today, I let loose on I-88 while listening to one of the mix tapes I own.

Got another one

Another song I like for highway driving is "People Hold On" by Cold Cut f/ Lisa Stansfield. It's somewhat mellow but you can roll 75-85 easily off of it. Another song I have rolled off of is "Music Sounds Better With You" by Stardust.

I actually have a mix CD with both tracks and it's pretty sweet.

Nothing like driving on a cool night with the top down listening to Jackson Browne's "Under the Falling Sky".
