Which Mazda3 color?

Hello,

I'm thinking of buying a Mazda3 but I'm on the fence as to which color to get. I've narrowed down the choice to two:

black mica or sunlight silver metallic

If "velocity red" were like "Ferrari red", then that would've been a no-brainer. Anyway....here are my reasons:

For black:

1) You can really, really, really, make it shine - just look at blkyukon's ride. It'll attract attention and a lot of heads will turn when I drive by.

2) It's a good excuse to buy Souveran paste wax and get first-hand experience with what many Autopians have been raving about.

Against black:

1) It can be real PITA during the rainy season. I never let 12 hours pass if a black car has been through rain. If I'm busy with work, this can really take up some much needed sleep time (I wash the car early morning or late at night). My old black car got washed as much as four times a week during the last rainy season!

2) It only looks its best right after you've buffed it. After that, it slowly but *noticeably* accumulates dust.

3) It's flat black. No flakes. I like flakes.

For metallic silver:

1) Silver is so-so. Metallic silver is a different story. I like flakes.

2) Dust isn't as noticeable on silver so I might get away with days where I don't wash the car and get some much needed sleep.

3) It can look good longer (between washes) because it ain't black!

Against metallic silver:

1) It won't shine like black. No way, no how. And since it won't shine, I may not turn as many heads.

2) I like black but only if it's metallic.

Any opinions?

Well I'm really biased on this one I have a black 3, but it's metallic though.
I would definitely go for black.. it'll be harder to maintain than silver but the rewards are great (especially with souveran )
Since I got this color I've always been busy with keeping it clean.. but as I've said, the rewards are great

I like "Winning Blue" but don't know if that's on offer in the US.

I was so close to buying a Mazda 3 in either Black Mica or Dark Titanium. A 2005 Mazda i 3 with the premium package. The 16 inch rims, I-4 engine and power everything. I was dead set on getting the 3 when walking into the dealership.

A few hours later I was signing papers for a 2005 Mazda Tribute i in Dark Titanium with premium package. MSRP 22,785. Got it down to 19,900 and some change out the door. Got a lot of cash off of it. ANYWAY. I know you are talking about color.

I have the dark titanium shown in the following thread.

It has a lot of metallic in it.

Black looks good when done right but that whole time constraint thing due to constant QD and washing. I wash my Tribute once a week if the weather allows for it.

Go with whichever color you like best when seen. You had a black car before so you know about maintaince.

Jason

I'm biased too but I say go for winning blue, it's by far the best color. Originally I was going to get silver, but once I saw the winning blue there was no doubt what color I was getting.

I second the Winning Blue since that's the color of my two week old 3 However, given that you didn't include that in the poll, I'd have to say the sunlight metallic silver. Its a great looking color on the 3 and was my second choice. It would definitely hide dust.

Winning blue isn't available at the local dealer. Nice!
