Need help buying a used car.

Good Afternoon autopia,

I currently live in NY but don't mind traveling to NJ/PA to purchase a used car.

I have in mind a 2000-2002 Volvo S40. Given my budget, I don't want to spend ~$10K on the car.

Anyone have any recommendations? I want to stay away from Bayridge volvo, the guys there suck!

Anyone on autopia selling their Volvo?

I am sort of trying to stick a limb out here, I never purchased a car before I have enlisted the aid of a few good advisors and helpers.

Update:

Scratch that last post. I purchased a 2005 Mazda Tribute i yesterday.

I was originally looking at the Mazda 3 i's but the Tribute cost a little more with a lot more features, a leather interior being one, and more room.
