I have a friend interested in this truck but he read bad things about the brakes...that the rotors are undersized and need replacign every 5k miles or less. Anyone have any more info on this?

A new one or an older one? I know there are problems with the brakes and several other areas on the older ones but I haven't heard anything about the new ones yet.

Brakes are easy to upgrade, I was going through brakes every 5k on my old Explorer until I put some slotted rotors in then they were fine, Explorers have vastly undersized brakes too.

the grand cherokee has been in production for 10 yrs 3 body styles. mind giving some clues like 93-98, 99-04, or 05+.

the 99-04 body style had issues with warped rotors between like 99-01/02. there was a TSB that changed the a differnt style rotr and caliper
