Need Advice on Tires!

Hi friends,

I need to get some medium priced tires for my wife's car. Its a Toyota Camry 2001 and we had purchased some budget tires but they quickly wore out..

1. Does Michelin or Bridgestone make a reasonably priced tire?

2. Anyone had any luck with Costco or Sam's tires?

3. Any personal favorite national tire stores people have?

The tire size is 205/65R15. I'd love to find some tires for $100-130 each or less if I can get some decent quality & warranty.

Costco is very good because that dont have all the "add ons" that most others charge. Lots of places advertise for example $49.99 per tire, then they charge you disposal fee, a fee to balance, a fee for stems and on and on.

Tire rack has the best prices that I have seen. Super fast shipping usually one or two days.

Some of my favorite brands are Pirelli and BFgoodrich and Nitto

Im not a fan of kumho tires had them on the Camaro SS I used to have and If I were in the rain The tires were down right dangerous.

We've always been impressed by Michilin tires and run them on all our cars. I have been able to get local tire dealers to match the best price I've found on the web. Here's what Michelin offers in your car's original size.

You ought to be able to wheel and deal locally armed with the prices from the tire sites on the web. I got Michelin Pilot Sports A/S for our Lexus LS430 at less than $150/tire (usual list over $220).

For that kind of price you have some good choices. I just got some Yoko AVS ES 100's. (Have them on my Mini) It's a great summer tire. Toyo Proxes 4's are the same ballpark price and are a super all season high performance tire. (Have them on my S4)

Tirerack is pretty good Lee...I got a tire from there when I hit the pothole & couldn't find the OEM tire anywhere. They will also ship to some tire places that you could have mount & balance the tires; I had mine shipped to the Goodyear @ Perimeter...unfortunately Butler Tire was not one of their partners, but check to see if that has changed.

I would get cooper lifeliner touring sle 70,000 mile tire ,which is T rated. These tires are quiet and a good match for her car and should be about $65 for each tire. I have them on three of my cars.

You should get her some nice Drag Radials.

Or go to super wal-mart or sams club they have some good prices I think. But I also saw someone picking up some DRs

This however might not be the best choice for your wife.

I bought some Michelin X-Ones from Merchants Tire around 45K miles ago. They still look brand new, are very quiet, and are amazing in rain and snow.

I love Merchants, because their tire warranty is very cheap and covers balancing, rotations, and tire repair for the life of the tire. At this rate, that will be the life of the car. So far, I've had two separate tires repaired for free (so the coverage has been paid for already). I'm pretty sure I was out the door for $480 rolling on 195/60-14 (in that range).

Costco still charges a disposal fee. Well around here they do. Its an environmental thing.

Well SL, the best tire out right now is the Goodyear Assurance comfortred. They have an 80k warranty on them. They are the quietest tire on the market, smoothest ride, and excellent traction. They are designed for vehicles like yours, luxury and sport sedans. I sell these all the time at work and have had nothing but great reviews on them. I persoanlly have them on my Altima and have never had a better tire! The cushion between the tread and belts is on average 20% thicker than any other tire on the market, which insures a comfortable ride on any kind of road! They aslo have a solution in the tire called Permablack, which is an additive that reduces, if not eliminates tire browning. The additive comes to the surface and does a way with tire browning! If you need anymore information, please ask! I am a sales associate and a Goodyear retail store, so if you have any questions just ask! Also, unfortunately, I would say that TireRack will have the best price, but you can have them shipped to a Goodyear store and they will install them for you!
