Lincoln LS?? Opinions Please!
Hello everyone. I am contemplating purchasing a new to me Lincoln LS, most likely a 2000 or 2001. Does anyone here own one? I can't recall seeing photos of any in the Click and Brag forum. I would love to hear some impressions from owners if you don’t mind.
All I know about these cars really is that they are RWD and have an optional V8. I really can't afford a new one so it will have to be used. Originally I had wanted a 3 Series BMW but I can't afford that car either.
I found this car on Autotrader.Com. 2001, black, V8, 59k miles @ $14,000.00. Does that sound reasonable to you? I am coming from a V8 sedan so I would like to stay with a V8 sedan.
Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

One of my regulars has a 2003 ( I think) LSE and that is one nice car! I love driving that thing around. It rides very nice and it handles very well for a bigger car. His has the V8 in it. I really would like to have one myself.

It was compared to a BMW by many car magazines as far as drivability is concerned. Obviously will depreciate faster but I guess that could be a good thing when buying a used car.
Not sure about its reliability.

I haven't driven one myself, but a friend, who has a Jag Xj and older BMW 5 Series is looking to get rid of one of those and is seriously considering one. He was impressed. He thought Ford did a good engineering job and it was a lot of car for the money. He is used to european cars and he felt it has that feel.

I have seen them as low as $12,000 depending on options and if they have the sport package. Also check out www.getauto.com very easy to locate one there. Getauto is also owned by the same people that own autotrader.

I have one. It has been a very good car. It handles very well (I have a Miata and the LS is no slouch in handling). I do have the V8 and the handling package. Reliability has been good but there have been minor problems. My girlfriend said that she just received a recall notice, forgot what for but it wasn't a big matter.

That is good news to hear beastie. You have a nice ride as well, looks like the one I listed above.
I found another one I am interested in. Blue, V6, 5spd with the sport package. Miles are kind of high though, 70k. $11,000.00. I am learly of buying high mileage cars though.
Thanks for all the replies so far!

Suggest you check out the owners' reviews at edmunds.com
http://www.edmunds.com/used/2001/lin...x...1.Lincoln*
I'd opt for a comparable Lexus, Avalon, or Camry.

And those would all be front wheel drive, unless you can find a GS for a good price. BTW, the Lincoln LS is nearly the same car as a Jag S-type, which competes directly with the E-Class and 5 series.
