Join Date: May 2004 Location: Long Island, New York Posts: 280 | New Audi A3 Info!!! Well i went to audi today to pick up some things for my Audi and spoke to my "hookup" Kevin at Audi. He told me to expect to see the A3 in the U.S. in the next 100 days. This years A3 will be a Fwd 1.8t, with next years modelt avalible with a 1.8t quattro! Base prie will be 27,000! Just thought i would update everyone with the Downlow!

Join Date: Oct 2004 Location: Rochester, NY/ LI, NY Posts: 671 | The car will actually be a 2.0t 200 hp and 208 tq. You are correct though for the first year in the U.S. it will be front wheel drive. The car is based on the new Golf/Gti platform and will be a very solid vehicle. | |

They know for sure the quattro will be avalible next year, but there is no set time or price for a RS3 or S3. They believe the S3 will come in first with the RS3 not to far behind! The RS3 will be a close cousin to the R32 if not faster!

Join Date: Dec 2001 Location: Mississauga (Toronto) Canada Posts: 950 | WOW that is pretty steep for an A3. Add quattro to the mix and it'll be over 30K USD! I've always liked the A4 but once again, I find it a few grand to high for what you get.
I'd rather pickup a G35/350Z. Much more tunable, better performance and much better base OEM car should you choose not to touch the vehicle.
Other options in that price point are the BMW 325Xi (AWD) or Lexus IS300 which IMO, are much better vehicles.

I am surprised to hear the prices being quoted in North America for the A3. My wife has a 2WD Audi TT Coupe which is listed here in Australia at A$72,995 (equates to ~US$54,750), which I believe lists in the US in the early US$30k.
