Thinking About A New Car

I am thinking about getting a new car, my truck is starting not to be practical and gets horrible gas mileage (5.9L V8, 3.92 gears, and 33" tires = 10mpg) The truck is also hard for me to park in tight spots at school and my apartments so I end up parking far away. I saw the Scion tC at a car show the other day and liked it a lot, what are your opinions on these? and do you have any other suggestions on a good car around the same price range?

I'd definitely get something used. I tried finding you a 3-series for about $15K, but their mileage was too high.

So moving down the scale a bit, how about a 2000 Infiniti G20 with 47K miles? Looks like you could get it for under $13,000.

If you must do new, I'd take a look at the Mazda 3.

A guy I work with has a tC and loves it. I haven't gotten a ride yet, but they do look good.

It's built by Toyota and has the Camry four cylinder engine and transmission. Go take a test drive, it won't cost you anything.

I have the xB and really like it. I've added a few things (wheels, intake, different tail lights, etc.). My new springs just came in to lower it about an inch. Not sure when I'll get them installed though.

Ive got a 01 SS Camaro and Im seriously considering getting something more "practical" for my daily driver. Ive been looking at the Lexus IS300. A good low mileage used one costs about $22000. Im guessing thats more than the Scion though?

Defin etely used and certified. Someone else would have already taken the fall on depreciation on the thing.

Honda Element might be another one to take a look at. I was looking at their reviews on Cars.com the other day and they have very high marks....and they are quite gentle on gas.

The tC is a neat little car. The front has a little bit of the BMW "shark" styling. Definitely gets my vote for a car in that class.

I forgot to mention. Go to www.scionlife.com for more information if you're still considering a tC.

If you're thinking Scion..look at MINI. The base Cooper new is $16K or so. They come pretty well equipped.

the tc is incredible for the price (around 17)... faster that minicooper s (20000 atleast), and blows away civic si's (18)... the whole roof is a sunroof... comes with some sorta pioneer radio, not to mention the engine is the engine that comes in the 4cylinder camry (very reliable)... id love to get one as a second car... mileage should be pretty good
