Why do they do this?

The other day I made a left turn. So, I turned into the leftmost lane (as is sensible and required by law in Québec). I signal that I want to make a lane change and the guy behind me, who was practically up my bum, changes lanes so fast, that I spot him when I check my blind spot. Okay, I let him get ahead of me and make my lane change behind him. Then he changes back to the leftmost lane and speeds off. (I wasn't going slow, but I was only doing 10 kph over the speed limit.)

Why do people do that? Change lanes to where I want to be as soon as they see me put on my turn signal? Especially when they wanted the lane they were already in and it was obvious I was going to be out of their way?

Why do people do that... well they, I mean I, have been driving around the country searching for Autopians and finding ways to mess up their lives. Coincidentally my most successful tactic is while driving and is commonly understood as the 'sweepin for the bird' technique, and is quite similar to what you experienced. To date date I have caught more middle fingers than I can remember, and that in itself, I find to be very rewarding. I have no other explanation other than that other people's misfortune and anger make me happier. I hope that I have shed some light on the situation, but if it angers you even more... then maybe my job is done once more.

Well, that would explain it.

Some people (several of my friends) are just in a crazy, inexplicable rush. I don't see why you would dart all over traffic on a busy highway just to get to someplace 2 minutes faster. Don't get me wrong, I love to "stretch out the legs" of my car, but only when the road and especially the traffic permit it...

He probably didn't even see you signal and just went into the other lane.... somebody in a huge rush with no due consideration.

Who knows why some of the idiots on the road do what they do?

Well, that might be the case, but the timing is suspicious. It seems to happen regularly.

He was just annoyed that the speed limits were in metric.
