Bummed out
I can't believe it. Someone stole my hubcaps. I last heard about people stealing hubcaps in the 60's. I have a 1993 Volvo 850 with alloy wheels with a small hubcap in the centre, covering the bolts. Well, they don't have them anymore. They were stolen while the car was parked in the underground garage of my condo association. All four are gone. It looks really stupid now. New ones are Cdn $45, each. At least Swedish Auto is going to look for used ones in their scrap yard. I can't afford to replace them now. I'll have to replace them before winter (unless I can afford the steel wheels I want for the winter tires).

I can honestly empathize. The '88 Accord LXi has alloy wheels with plastic lug covers. I had two that had peeled and turned white from age, and two that were perfect. While in DC one night, someone stole my two "good" ones
On the upside, I was forced to go buy four new ones at the Honda place. The old ones *really* detracted from the appearance anyway. Too bad that a plastic disc 4.5" in diameter costs $60 apiece

Sorry to hear the bad news! Would it be cheaper if you tried sourcing some from a junkyard?

Thanks for asking. I'm getting used to it and liking it more. I miss functioning air conditioning , but I like the leather seats and sunroof.
I haven't had time to detail it yet. I am starting to like the car enough that I am actually getting eager

Spilchy, thanks for the links. Actually, the kind I need cover the lugs, so it was U$31.77 which is about Cdn$44.48 plus shipping. I'll find out how much the ones that come from the scrapyard cost.
That's one of the things I like about Swedish Auto (the place I get my Volvo serviced and where I bough it). They have their own Volvo/Saab scrapyard and always try to get me a deal.

Taxlady, I know exactly how you feel, only my centercaps weren't stolen, they decided to take all four wheels and tires Friday morning.
Sorry to hear about your loss, the wrongdoers will get what is coming to them.
