First impressions: Vette after 100 miles...

Worked on the vette again today, took yesterday off to drive it. I had never even drove one before I bought this car, so I had nothing to compare it to. But who cares!

This thing is a rocket ship. It's a pavement oblivirator. It is more fun to drive than you can imagine. And the weather has been absolutely perfect!!!

I have only let my wife drive it (other than me) and she is a very good driver. Sedate, but good. It knows that when the #1 key fob gets pressed, it's time to rock and roll. #2 gets pressed, and it's time to go to Sunday school (he he).

The vette's looking great, and I just want to say thanks to all the good people here who have, in their own way, provided me with timely advice. If it wasn't for me finding this site I would have done OK making the car look nice but instead it is darn near perfect. And I owe it to all of you. Thanks a million!!!!

Me driving the vette:

I saw this absoultely stunning yellow 'vette come down the street today while I was out walking the dogs. Even though today feels like late fall does here in New England, the sun was out, the top was down and the tunes were cranking. The driver of the vette had a big on his face, the babe in the right seat was eye candy , and the smilie symbols that Brad4ord posted ( ) were definitley apropo for this close encounter of the 'vette kind!

The Corvette is just a terrific car ! When I bought my M5, BMW offered a driving school and it was well worth it ( I suppose they don't want you killing yourself). Although I considered myself a pretty good driver already what I found invaluable was having the chance to push the car to it's limits and beyond. I ended up spinning more than once and really came to understand the limits of the car. Better to find those limits on a track than on the street. My hardy recommendation, take a driving school with your car or indentical ones.
Besides, it's so much fun !

A word of warning for the new Corvette owner. Several months ago, I attended a local "show and shine" Corvette gathering of about 30 'vettes. ALL of the C4 and C5 Corvette's had terrible leather wear, especially on the driver's side bolster. I was appalled that even the low mileage "concours" examples had cracking, pigment loss and abrasions on the leather. Really unacceptable in a >$40k car, in my opinion.

Otherwise, they're beautiful cars.

my mom's monte carlo is torch red, for that year, it was the only other GM car to come in that color besides the vette.

I just sit behind the wheel and pretend

I wanted one but the interior was not up to snuff, even the new C5's looked a little worn after only a year or so. The carpet was
bad and most interior plastic looked like the regular cheap american stuff, which put me off. I will still pick up a C4 or C5 one day though, just for the engine.

Yeah, you know should know this going in.

A vette is kind of like a work in progress. There are tradeoffs in choosing a sport's car. The interior isn't too bad, though. I suspect the leather problem can be mitigated by proper dressing and care getting in and out. But the interior is GM made, dudes.

All things considered, I love the car the way it is. My wife hasn't left me yet and my leather is a little worn. But I still have plenty of get up and go!

the leather won't look so worn if you actually get up out of the car every once in awhile
