Camaro and Fierbird production to end!
I have not seen many people with Camaro's and Firebird's posting here, but I think that this is very sad. I was brought up and first starting to notice cars when these models were first produced. These were the muscle cars along with the GTO's and 442's that rumbled and prowled the streets, leaving rubber on the road at nearly every chance that they could. Will the Mustang be next?? I hope not!

I have a Super Sport Camaro, Corvette LS1 driven engine. I am pumping 330 hp and 345 torque. It's a blast, I know if more people test drove them they would buy them.

The Camaro ends this year and the Firebird will follow next. Don't worry, they alrady have drawings of a future model and all that jazz.
Hey PrinzII, did you know next years Maxima's are going to have 255 horsepower? They went from almost 200 to 222 and now up to 255. Jeepers, little buggers are getting faster every 2 year it seems.

Yea, its ashame how everyone is buying all of these stinkin' SUVs...some of them are like mack trucks (Excursion)...scary when a vehicle gets the big. I find them especially annoying cause they block my view in parking lots when I am trying to pull out of a space. Also, most of them just look pathetic because most of the owners take little time to detail them properly.

I say "Good Riddance"
Now Mustangs will rule the road!
Just kidding, of course. Although I am a die-hard Mustang fan and always have been, I very much respect the original Camaros and Firebirds. Without them and their continued performance, I know Ford would have slacked off with the Mustang.
I am sorry to see them go, but I'm sure Chevy/Pontiac will bring them back in the future, ala the Thunderbird, as soon as the SUV trend dies off.

graeme..
That is one sweet Mustang!!!! Was that the first production model?? I can only draw upon my memory from the 1962 NY World's Fair in the Ford exhibit. They had cars that you would ride in throughout the exhibit and it was always the brand new Mustang that everyone wanted to sit in! I have a 98 Convertible GT myself, but the originals really had much more charisma....

Thanks for the compliments! I love my 'Stang and show it off every chance I can get. It is a first year model - 1965, and if it had been built a month earlier, it would have been considered a 1964 1/2. 289 V-8, automatic, 4 bbl... churning out 225 horses.
(PrinzII's Maxima can probably outrun it now! )
My grandparents bought it brand new in 1964 and kept it in great shape through the years. It was given to me as a gift when I turned 16 in 1989 and I have kept it as original as possible. It was repainted the original color in 1992 and other than that.... it has been routine maintenance.
My parents have it garaged in their home in Sedona, Arizona. The pics were taken last Christmas when my wife and I went to visit. I don't have it here in KC because I don't have a garage to keep it in. My dad gets a kick out of running it around the block for me.
Anyhoo... thanks!

Pretty sure that anyone who buys an SUV probably wouldnt be too interested in a camaro or firebird anyway. Dont get me wrong, I love those cars.....even the awkward firebird years (like the one on Knight Rider....I used to love that show!!). Just a totally different audience.
Not to go off on a tangent, buy everyone seems to be growing annoyed by SUVs and their drivers and I must admit, I get a little defensive about that (I have a Tahoe). I agree that it is a little over the top to see everyone and their mother driving around in an SUV, but no one feels that way about the ton of civics, accords, camry's, etc (....granted, size, gas considerations, etc.). Still, my theory as to why people get annoyed is it because alot of SUV drivers cant handle their vehicle well. At the risk of sounding arrogant, I grew up driving 3/4 ton long bed pick-ups, so for me, my Tahoe feels small.... I can whip in and out of parking spots...dont need to make 8 point turns..and so on. However, someone who sold their sedan to buy an SUV might not be quite as nimble. Oh well, just venting....sorry.
As for detailed SUVs, I would stack mine up against any car (well, almost any..... none of those belonging to the veterans on this board ......

I don't think you can label someone strictly an SUV guy. I had 2 Explorers and a Mountaineer before buying my wife a BMW and taking her Mustang. I loved the SUV and now that I don't have a truck to move the larger stuff around with, I definitely miss it! I have to rely on a friend who has a Tahoe...
One benefit to not having the SUV is that I save money at Costco. Just can't fit as much stuff into a Mustang... And it sure as heck is easier to detail!!!!!!
