Now that would be quite a feat. SHOs were commonly acknowledged to top out stock at 140 mph. Motor Trend's top speed test from *many* years ago had a two way average top speed of 140 or 142 mph. So was your SHO modded?
I've had three myself...a '90, another '90 and a '91.

Re: Speeding
Well, while we're on the subject, there's a video posted of an E46 BMW running away from the police in Oklahoma City yesterday.
Go to NewsChannel 4 KFOR-TV-DT Oklahoma's Award-Winning - News, Weather, Sports and more - KFOR home page
Hit the "Must See" tab and you should see it.
He blocks the officer out toward the start of the video. Then watch for his tail end kicking out when he makes the right turn onto 63rd street. Almost hits the truck next to him. Nice professional takeover by the officer. After that chase, my adrenaline would have been running so high, I'd have wanted to yank him out of the car and beat him senseless.

Eh..Grr...I can't seem to find the right video on that link I like to study those types of videos, especially ones involving good cars. Tactical driving is, uhm...a high-priority interest of mine
It does bring up a good point...in the real world a *skilled* tactical driver can often handle a more average driver pretty easily, even when the latter is driving a much faster/better car.

I wonder why he was running...
Accumulator, this what it looked like for me. This is on the home page, after clicking that tab:

Re: Speeding
I just went to the site and clicked the "Must See" tab under Top Video news. It's *currently* still the default video that loads.
Yeah, he does a good job holding the officer off and apparently the chase had been going on for some time before the chopper started filming. Had some serious gahones blowing through four way stops and overtaking cars in his lane.
But as mentioned, when he takes the right, he loses distance with the drift. Not sure if he'd switched off his ASC (anti skid control) or if there was too much dirt on the surface for ASC to cope with. But the officer seems to close in indicating to me that he took the corner properly...or at least better than the BMW driver.
Some say he was outrunning the cop. That's arguable. I mean it's obvious he was out front and maintaining his distance, but we don't know if the officer was instructed to keep some distance in hopes that it might not incite the suspect into further stupid behavior. Crown Vic interceptors are pigs from a standing start, but should top out around 130. The BMW probably has a top speed of between 140 and 150 depending on which model it is.

Re: Speeding
I've read on the Bimmerforums page for our region that he had some crack and a pipe in the car. Not sure where they got that information or if it's been confirmed by any other sources.

Re: Speeding
simracer- Ah, OK, got it now. Thanks.
Good video, they oughta show that as a training film. As you said, note how the LEO is able to keep catching up to the perp in the much faster car. Same ol' same ol' it's seldom about the machinery as much as the *organic* software
And yeah, that "why's he running" Q can be a real wildcard...you just never know what he's up to.
That LEO was pretty gentle there at the end of the chase, he coulda been a lot more aggressive about ending the show. Good self-restraint.

Yeah, looked like he exposed himself pretty much in general once the chase had ended, good thing the perp wasn't murerously inclined. I'll cut the LEO some slack over it as that'd been one *long* pursuit and there was at least one place where I suspect he nearly got in a head-on collision.
Notice how one of the later-arriving LEOs really *cleared* the car before he assumed things were OK.

Man, no good answer, except I was there and it happened. Pullies and a TB were on it when I bought it.......no GPS back then.........it did seem to take forever.

Yeah, it's just hard to know without a GPS or a laser. Speedos can be wildly unreliable at that end.
Pullies seemed to only net a few hp and I don't know that anyone would see anything with the TB without some exhaust work to improve the breathing on the back end.
Nothing really woke mine up until I dropped the y-pipe for the SHO shop model without the catalytic converters.
