Man, this is one old thread.

My MR2 tops redline in 5th gear at 150mph, so that's all I've gone. Time to up the rev limiter!

Ohhhh man!! I guarantee some 25 year old schmuck will read this and try to go put cobra badges on his V6 stang so he can get away with stuff... only thing of it is, that whole policy is just wrong...
Yeah, I agree, the whole idea was misleading and usually unfair. It turned Highway Patrol Officers into tax collectors with guns. Now we do have a posted speed limit, and although I don't get away with as much as I used to at least I always know where I stand. Besides, if I'm speeding I deserve a ticket, it shouldn't matter how old I am. Thanks for your reply.

get away with stuff by putting cobra badges...
I do the opposite...

took off my V6. so I can look like a anemic I4

fastest I've gone... 143 racing a RX7 on the 45..
well it wasnt so much a race as it was a slaughter...
I got raped by at least 10 car lengths.

that was before my headers.. I think i have a leak
because ive lost low end. I gotta get that checked out..

Havent had the balls to go that fast since.. mostly cause my new tires are noy V-rated but H-rated.

I love my scanner and radar though.

oh yeah.. and as for the hyper-speeding
anyone see the gumball rally 3000or hear about it?
you can pick up the DVD at bestbuy for 9.99
its really entertaining..
although it made me cringe how dirty some of those cars got.

like 30 ultra-exotic cars.. going from new york to LA really fast...
shows footage of them getting busted by cops and stuff
and interviews with the drivers...

Example:

So how many tickets did you get?

No tickets, 2 jails.
"I got caught by the cop going 150.. its a good thing he didnt catch me when i was doing 190"

apparently alot of them were brits with International DLs so they couldnt have their licenses suspended. just heavy fines
and they were rich.. obviously to own the cars they did.

Fastest I've ever gone is 130 on 95 south...I was racing a...get this...a Ford F-350 Dually, Cummins Turbo diesel. I just KNEW that his governor would kick in, but it never did. Couldn't believe that he stayed with me...good thing I didn't get caught.

Did get caught doing 71 in a 40...Mitsubishi Eclipse GS...showing off for my friend...now he has a WRX

Here's a story for you from a mountie I know in BC:
He's doing a radar trap at 3am (beautiful night, no clouds, nice and warm out). He's got his window down, when he hears a car coming and from the sound of it, the car is flying! He pulls the trigger on the radar gun to get ready, but doesn't see anything.... the enigne still getting louder. All of a sudden the radar gun lights up at 328kph and something blasts past him. He didn't see anything (no lights, no vehicle, nothing!). He radio's up to one of the toll booths set up and tells them to stop anything sporty.

When he gets there, the only vehicle that was there was the operator's silver truck and a guy in a black viper. The guy is all pissed off cause he's been held up. The cop asks to search the viper and the guy is very cool and hands over the keys. Nothing in the trunk, under seats, or any where else. The cop goes to check the glove box, but it's locked. Now the guy is getting a little nervous, so the cop opens up the glove box with the key and you'd never guess what he found........

Night vision goggles!

The guy ripped out the daytime running lights and turned off all lights on the viper and then raced down the highway. How's that for speeding...I think the limit was only about 100kph.

HOLY COW, thats like 203mph according to my calculations. That is one man that takes his speeding seriously. I couldn't even afford the night goggles let alone the viper.

If it sounds to unbelievable to be true then it probably is... details from the urban legend kings can be found here: Snopes. It's a pretty cool site that has the scoop on all the "friends friend" type of stories.

Heh heh, Accumulatorette is a little different. Last big number I pulled was 139, when I slowed down she calmly asked "why'd you back off so soon?" Sounded mildly disappointed/concerned, like maybe I'd felt something amiss with the car. She falls asleep when I stay in the 90's, but then we've done a good bit of motoring together.

Same deal with me here. I was driving a friend's Thunderbird Supercoupe to the Casino in Windsor, Ontario on the 401 (3 am)and my buddies kept egging me on to keep hammering it faster and faster. Previous to this the fastest I had ever driven was 190 kmh when I was in high school and I was terrified way back then. We got the thing going 200 kph and I thought for sure it was going to kick off but it just kept going. We ended up burying the needle at 240 kmh and it kept pulling! I couldn't believe it. It turns out the previous owner was a mechanic at the local ford dealer who had tweaked it for speed. I will never, ever do that again.

It is actually a Power Stroke Diesel in a Ford. The Cummins is in the Dodge. Plus, if the Ford was chipped that eliminates the governor.

I get a lot of surprised looks from my truck as well. A big Ford Super Duty with a V10 and 4.30 gears; you can not , mess with 300 Hp and 410 lb. ft. of torque!!!
