Valentine One

I need your advice Valentine One v1.7 and v 1.8 owners!

I just bought a Valentine v1.8. It's used and but looks like it's in great shape. I finally got a chance to test it out today, but I'm not sure if it's working properly?

I've had a v1.7 for about 6 months and thought the 1.8 would be an upgrade, but after testing it out today, I'm not so sure.

With the v1.8, in the "A" mode, I have not gotten a single hit. The v1.7 picks up everything and I'm now starting to wonder if the v1.8 the guy sold me is broken. The v1.7 I have picks up all sorts of radars when I drive into a shopping plaza but the v1.8 does not give any indication that it's working.

Is my v1.8 broken, or is it just better at filtering out bogeys????

That does not sound right.

I've got V1.8 and it goes off all the time in the "A" mode. I 'spose you're not getting any repsonse in the other modes....sounds like that one needs to go in for service. I hope you bought it cheap and the S/N is still readable.

I had an earlier version, don't recall which version, but the newest models clearly have superior sensitivity and I don't think are really any better at filtering "false" alerts. The laser section appears better on V1.8 as well.

BTW, great detector but you probably already know that.

93LSCOUPE- Yeah, sounds like your v1.8 is messed up. I have V1s of numerous vintages (with the older ones all upgraded), and as best I can tell they all have about the same sensititivity. If anything, I get more laser-falses with the newest ones. Send it back to Valentine for service and hope it's not stolen

Just a question, has the valentine been reprogrammed? I know with mine I reprogrammed it not to search for 'x' radar. Just a thought, not sure if it is valid or not

Underdog, good call.

I had forgotten about that.

It's easy enough to check:

Quote:
If the unit has been changed, P will appear briefly in the Bogey Counter soon after V1 is switched on (after the lamps-on test, but before the Mode indicator appears.)
