What color car would you get?

I basically have it narrowed down to either Bight Silver/platinum, Black, or White with black interior.
I have had both silver and white before, the white is super easy to maintain and shows no swirls, however it never really shines up that great, silver shines up nice and has decent maintenance. I was really thinking about black since it shines up so nice, but will I be making a mistake trying to keep this thing swirl free.

It is a 03-04 Mustang, btw.

Whenever my car is clean I always am thankful that I got a black car. If you wanna wash your car twice a week its ok tho. I got QEW now and it's no problem.....

Have a white, silver, and black car. I still pick black any day. It just has the wow factor and I never let mine get dirty or swirled!

You're an Autopian...I think you can handle Black .

I mean you're right, Black IMO shines up like no other and reflects like crazy. From being here, I'm sure your process and product knowledge have gone through the roof and you could make the black stun people.

At the same time, silver and white are easy to maintain, and you can get a good shine out of them, but probably nothing like black.

In my shoes, I'd go with white. Ford OP sucks and a dark color makes it show up more. My dad has a 01 Cobra in True Blue (a Navy Bluish color) and it shows up a lot. While you can color sand it, I'd still go with white. Prepped and protected correctly, white can get so bright it's blinding. I've seen a couple really clean white cars before and they stand out just as much as a detailed black car. The brightness is what catches your eye...plus, White Stang's are rather rare...At least for the new ones.

Jngrbrdman owns a white Integra and I'm sure he'll post a couple pics of his Teg here. You can really see how well it looks when detailed.

Good Luck with your purchase.

yeah, I know I would be able to handle the polishing and such. I have a PC and all the compounds, zaino, klasse, nxt, etc.

I guess I really wanted to know if black is worth all the time and effort.

I had to think hard about getting black myself. I am a novice at detailing (but getting better!) and was a little scared about keeping the black looking good. But I’ve found the challenge of keeping the car looking great pretty enjoyable and it blows away all other colors when done right.

Black is always worth it if you're willing to invest a little more time into it. Don't forget paint chips as well. Chips are an eye sore on black paint and you have to put a little extra time into the door jambs, in between panels, and around the mouldings for wax residue removal. Yes black is always worth it. IMHO. Best of luck in your choice, I'm sure you'll keep it looking great regardless.

LouisanaJeeper- I wouldn't get black, myself. Life is just too short. For years, I owned black cars. I used to say I'd ONLY own black cars, then it was "I'll only have black for my 'good' car", and then I decided I just didn't want to spend all my time sweating over it. I just can't stand the way black looks when it's imperfect, and (most) "real cars" are imperfect unless you REALLY keep after them. And eventually, that clearcoat's gonna start getting thin.

Switching to silver cars has given me back HOURS (maybe DAYS) of my life. And time is one of those "non-renewable resources". Be sure to REALLY check out the 'stang in different colors. Some colors just WORK/*DON'T*work on certain cars. Regardless of how much/little work it ends up being, you sure don't want to think "aw man, I coulda/shoulda..." every time you see it.

definitely silver. A friend of mine has an 02 mustang gt in silver w/black interior....looks really sharp. IMO, silver (or any similar metallicy based paint) has the ablity to hide 'daily' imperfections (ie. stone chips, stray surface scratches etc.) much better than the darker colors.

Not to mention that even when dirty, silver looks cleaner than it really is.

Dude, a new Mustang?--black all the way...the extra effort is so worth it. Of course, mine's a garage queen so my perspective a little off, but still....black + mustang=hot.

If I stand 3 feet away from my car, it looks pretty much flawless. Take a flashlight (or the sun) and put your face 3 inches from the paint and it's a different story. Based on my limited experience, if your black car is a daily driver there’s really no way to keep it flawless. I’m hesitant to use abrasive polishes on my car very much and have found that the light polishes still won’t get all the imperfections out, although they help. If you go searching you’re bound to find flaws. So I just prefer to examine the quality of the paint from a few feet away. If it looks great from that distance, I call it good.

My wife has a black mustang. When it is polished and waxed, it looks awesome. When it is dirty, it looks neglected. I spend extra time on her car trying to maintain the paint because it swirls easily. That said, if you don't mind spending time keeping it looking pretty then black maybe the color for you.

Are you giving up your ZJ?
