Question Questions about shifting 5 speed MT

Could anyone explain what heel/toe shifting is? Also double- clutch downshifting. I am trying to refine my shifting skills. Thanks.

adujulien, great article! CRV, I don't think you have to worry too much about double clutching in a modern car.

double clutching is what you do in older cars that don't have gear synchros...

But it works when your synchros are blown or shot!

Just push the clutch to pull the shifter out of gear, release the clutch (shifter is in neutral) then blip the throttle, then push the clutch back in again to put the shifter in the next gear.

(that's my understanding of it anyways.)
