2000 Lex ES300 Price Check
Hi,
Newb here, great board first off, never knew there were this much information on detailing. Well...my question is about a 2000 Lexus ES300. It has 40K on it already, Platinum Series and Nakamichi Sound. I was quoted at 25k for this, is this an okay price? I'm purchasing from used Lexus Dealership, so its CPO. I ask because I just read in another forum that a new ES330 cost this person 31K. Did I get my head handed to me?
Thanks in advance.

Where are you located? In LA, I would not pay $25K for an ES with 40,000 miles, CPO or not. At most, $19K. IMO, I'd rather get a brand new Camry or Accord V6 for that kind of money.
According to www.CarsDirect.com, you could get a new ES330 for $29,326...

I'm located in Pennsylvania. I think location makes a difference?

I have to agree with BW, I would not purchase a 2000 ES300 for $25,000 with 40,000 miles on it.
Have you checked out of state? I think you could find quite of few preowned ES300 with less or about the same miles between $18,000 and $20,000. If it was me, I would pay no more than $18000 to $19000.

Thank you both. Does it make a difference to the final price tag if I purchase out of state and have the vehicle shipped/driven to me? The dealer told me that the Lexus CPO warrenty adds between 1 to 1.5K to the final price tag. So taking the above example, retail value $22,870 the final price on the high side would be $24,370? So how is it possible to get something like that at price down to 18, 19k? Even if I tell the Dealership the CPO is nothing to me, they can't "not" spend that money on the car already, 22.8K is not 19k. How do i justify almost 3.5k knockdown on the price?

Here is a link to search for Lexus CPO ES300 cars.
http://www.lexus.com/cpo/index.html
Does it have to be CPO? If not, you could check www.autotrader.com.
You will have to pay out of state taxes.

Frankly all CPO gets you is an extended warranty and roadside assistance. Both can be obtained separately. Lexus CPO is pretty good for a factory program; they're pretty picky. But it adds about $1100+ to the bottom line of the car. You really can't negotiate that as that's what Lexus USA charges dealers to certify cars. Neither KBB or CarsDirect take this into consideration. Plus any recon costs are not factored into the KBB or CarsDirect price.

i seen a cpo lexus ls 400 let me just tell you how bad of an accident this thing was in, it actually had someones teeth imprinted in the front dash from the enormous impact, along with rnumerous preforations in other parts of the dash from the glass, recue etc, now does that sound like a car that went under the 1000 point or whatever inspection, i dont even want to get into the problems under the hood. and yes this was from a new york lexus dealer, i cant believe people actually fall for this crap just becaue it says cpo means nothing, there the one certifing it not you for them to sell and make a profit. and by the way the price sounds on the high side for pa. i have several lexus vehicles.
