Don't know anything about IL. However you could contact the tourism people at any of the states through New England/ NE and they could guide you to the best spots. Vermont is very nice for this.

Can you get me some info for that? That might sound very intriguing for me. Last year, I went to Galena and did not see any fall colors at all.
