Van from hell....

Gotta tell you about this. I saw a client yesterday and he showed me a Ford Transit high roof van - nothing really special, right?

However, this one was built by Jaguar as a project and has.....wait for it.....a full blown Jaguar XJ220 engine. Runs 0-60 in 4 seconds and can top 190.

Unbelievable!

The setup is pure XJ220 - brakes, suspension & steering - everything. It was built by Jaguar as a testbed for the running gear and has been left unused for some years - it's now being recommissioned.

Blow away Sprinters - come on! You need an F16 to even try that especially on a crowded M25 in rush hour.

BTW used the M6 toll road yesterday - 25 minutes to travel round Birmingham for £2. I don't agree with road charging but hey, its very convenient!

Ford had a Transit rally concept a couple years ago. Ford also has history of racing the transit, super van.

That's right, Ford have built 2 or 3 "Supervans" all running F1 running gear (I think the first 2 had Cosworth DFV engine). The rally van pictured above was fairly standard mechanically but had been tweaked I believe so the support team could try & keep pace with the drivers......

Renault also built an Espace MPV with full F1 running gear - I saw that go up the hill at the Goodwood Festival a couple of years back - family car from hell I'd say!

That's the puppy! Williams Renault FW16 with an MPV body dropped on top. The Espace was arguably the original MPV (introduced 1986) although I think the Dodge Caravan may have been around before then.

Anyways, the Espace really got the MPV thing rolling in Europe and Renault did it again in the 90's with the Scenic - a mini MPV with 5 seats.

Neither really flat my boat but then again I haven't got 6 kids and 3 dogs etc etc.
