New or used engine costs?

I may need a new or used engine to replace my current engine in

my ZJ. Its the inline 6cly on the 97' Jeep Grand Cherokee laredo.

Its the stock engine no modifications. I got an estimate from a

jeep dealer for a used with 60,000 miles on it for about $1,100

and that didnt sound right to me. Any feedback would be great!

I'd play it safe and go with a factory rebuilt engine with warranty. I would imagine the labor to install an engine would run $800 - $1200 alone.

The labor is about $700 (which is just an estimate) for everything

including engine instalistaion and the draining and replacing all

fluids and referigent. Even cleaning my muddy car too. So in total

it is about $2,300 total which again is only an estimate.

Check out jasperengines.com.

I had a rebuilt engine put in a 1990 Mercury Cougar and it worked like new and had a 3-year warranty. After 2 years and 11 months, the head gasket needed to be replaced, and the repair work didn't cost me a cent. Until then, it ran flawlessly.

There are many local repair shops that are authorized Jasper distributors, and even if you move, any Jasper distributor can perform the warranty work.

It worked well for me, and I would do it again.
