Question trunk lid alignment

this question may be outside the scope of this forum, but this group seems very knowlegable and someone probably has an answer to this question,

I am reconditioning my 1991 Celica convertible, and using the advice from this forum, the paint is coming out great.

However, over time, the trunk lid on the car has become misaligned, with the edge of the trunk lid that is nearest to the rear window almost 1 inch above the outside of the trunk. I have tried to adust it, but it keeps sticking up ! Do I need to replace the worn out brackets-hinges ?

thanks,

Jeff

I would loosen all of the nuts/screws and see if you can align the trunk to the rest of the car without the hinges. If it still wont align then it could be the trunk itself.
