Question where to get buy a Escort 8500?

Hey, I think I decided to buy a Escort 8500, not a V1. I have my reasons for the decision, but if it blows then I'll just get my $ back and try the V1.
I'm wondering if anyone can recommend any good places to buy an Escort 8500 at? I've noticed that some of the companies that sell radar detectors seem like small companies, and I was hoping I could buy from somewhere that an Autopian has had good experience with.

None

Since there is really no such thing as a good Escort 8500, there is no good place to buy one.

Your problem is that the person who is going to tell you that "it blows," as you put it, will be in uniform.

Get the V, which will save you money in the long run.

I never asked if there was "such a thing as a good Escort".

I don't want a religious war in this thread, just advice on good places to buy. From ALL of the "war" threads, the Escort 8500 and V1 are battling for top pick. I figure, I can't be going wrong going with the Escort, compared to what I currently have. From what nearly everyone is telling me, I can't go wrong with either the Escort 8500 or V1, both are excellent.
For the price and features, I chose the Escort. I can get it for $269.96 + Free 2nd Day Shipping from cartoys.com, anyone know of anywhere that has better deals?

That is a good deal. I am sure you will be very happy with your purchase. You can't please everyone It amazes me the things that can bring out the flames. A simple question and the negativity comes out in full force.

Hehe yeah I hate that. But I understand the defensivness, I sometimes get that way when I'm trying to convince people who have never tried Zaino how good it is.

I have a V1, but my buddy still has his Escort 8500 and it works very well. After seeing my V1 in use, he said that he may have chosen differently, but the 8500 works very well and he hasn't gotten any tickets yet. He didn't think it was worth buying a new V1 and selling his on eBay, as he was pretty pleased with its performance. I have three other friends who did switch from 8500 to V1, but that's another story

You really can't go wrong with either. Let's see how much you like this one... can't wait to hear your assessment of the device. If you get a chance, you should try a V1 and see if you like it better or not

Yeah I'd love to a V1 also and test the two. I may, I'm not sure though, I have to check the finances first. 700 bucks is an aweful lot of cash to haul out on radar detectors. Just a couple of minutes ago I gave away my Whistler 1660 to someone for free. I was going to throw it out the window when it once again was quiet as a church mouse when I passed a cop shooting radar the other day but I was afraid I'd get a ticket for littering. Wouldn't that have been ironic lol.

IF you test both....do not have them on at same time as they will interfere with one another....

Check Valentine site for HOW TO TEST A RADAR/LASER DETECTOR.......

Too late to enter in a new code, but the code I used was for free 2nd day shipping, so I guess that saved me money.

Well I got my 8500 early today, and have been out driving all day looking for cops shooting radar. Keep in mind that I was going the speed limit, I'm not dumb lol.
I found a cop shooting radar in my small town, he was on top of a hill and the 8500 picked him up about a half a mile or so ahead...not as long as I expected but still more than ample time to slow down. It responded much earlier than my Whistler 1660 ever did. I passed about a dozen cops today, but other than the one none of them were shooting radar. Normally a great thing, except for a crazy kid who is trying to test response distance. The reason I was looking for cops was because I was having marginal results with automatic doors. I'd have to get relatively close (definately no mile) before Wal-Mart automatic doors set it off. I don't know how earlier the V1 picks up automatic doors, but in some instanses the 8500 is marginal at best. But the one and only time I tested a cop it performed good. Hopefully when a cop is on level ground it will have better response time The cop shooting was obviously not trying to give tickets out, he was in such a high visable area that it was just to keep the drivers straight. What affect that had on my detector I don't know, maybe he was shooting radar into the air or ground and not seriously trying to track speed, just to screw with peoples detectors and scare people straight???
Oh yeah, I love the features on the 8500. And the auto mute feature is great.
