Most Embarrassing Moment

I once owned a Toyota Corolla GT Coupe - rare beast, rwd with an MR2 16v engine, posi axle 5-linked, discs all round, 5 spd close ratio box etc.
All stock!

It was a fun car to drive and I used to get a good run down this straight back road where there sat a set of lights and a hump over a disused railway crossing.

Anyways, it was about 11pm at night, dark but warm and dry so I thought if I could hit the lights just right I could get some air over the hump.

Of course, luck was on my side and I hit the hump about 40mph and achieved escape velocity only to get halfway over and see a highway patrol car parked on the other side.

:scared :scared

So they pulled me over and after a VERY stern talkin to was let off.

Two nights later it was raining and I had found a particular S-bend where I could get the car sideways both ways everytime.

So off I go powersliding this thing only to come face to face with another highway patrol car.

Same car, same occupants.

:scared :scared :scared :scared :scared

Arg.

Conversation went something like "Werent you the kid we pulled the other night??"

OOoops.

I got away with a ticket for two bald tyres on the back (I wonder why) and the threat of a ban next time I was caught.

DOH.

Haha, a motorcycle cop pulled me over once going 10 over the speed limit coming down a big hill. He was hiding at the side of the road.

Exactly one week later he pulled me over in the exact same place for 10 over again.

I started taking a new route to work....

It's bad enough to get pulled over by the police. It's worse when the following conditions are true:

a) The cop is your father
b) The cop is a friend/co-worker of your father's

Yes, I have gotten pulled over by my own father and/or some of his co-workers. No ticket, but still embarrasing as hell with friends in the car. If it's the friends, they tell him and I got talked to at home.

Luckily, this was in my teenage years.

If your in the UK I can tell you where to get one from .. If your in the USA it might be a little more difficult lol.

It is the AE86 with the 4AGE motor your looking for right ?

Yes, it was a one of a kind model - probably THE most fun car I've ever driven.

PM me with your location and I'll help as much as I can - owning one as I did for any length of time you soon get into the Corolla Coupe 'scene'.

check out www.clug4ag.com for info about these cars.

My dad's the orignal owner of an 85 Corolla GT-S, the US spec of the car that you speak of.

I'm suspossed to be detailing it in the next few days. I will post pics once the car is done. . .it needs some TLC, that's for sure. . .
