Unhappy Amazing Misshift (56k warning on link)

This isn't my car or anything but I saw these pictures on a forum which I visit often. Link goes to the thread which contains the pictures. It is pretty gruesome.

That's some impressive damage. Remember when downshifting, try to hit the right gear...

Think Acura's going to give him a new motor for that?

Guess he never heard of matching revs.

I thought he was making it up until I saw the pics. Wow.

Yeah, probably a huge age difference between newcelica.org and this forum. I would venture the average age of a member there to be about 20. Probably a little over that here just from all the expensive cars people post pictures of

I gernaded the engine in my Chevelle at 6500 rpm. It wasn't pretty. One rod was twisted 90 degrees and the big end was completely gone. I found 4 lifters, 3 pushrods and 4 lobes of the cam in the oil pan and I holed the block. I'll have to post the pics when I get back from picking up my kids this weekend.

Oh man, some people have more money and enthusiasm than brains. The weird part is he didn't seem all that concerned. Way to turn a state-of-the-art engine into an enormous paper weight. :

I see some "holes" in the kid's story. I think the guy was trying to upshift to sixth gear. Must have been a hamfisted driver to miss that badly and hit second.

Scott, how did you grenade the motor on your Chevelle? Overrev, or ????
