Has anyone used K40 Laser Defuser Plus?

Has anyone had experience with the K40 Laser Defuser plus? It looks like a license plate frame that has a sensor to detect and deter radar waves. It comes with an interior LED and a speaker to her an alert, but should dampen the waves so the radar gun is deemed useless. Is this really going to work, or is it a $260 gimmick?

I think it should work. But there are better units out there now that arent so difficult to install and work just as well or better.

I personally have a RMR Phantom IV but I cant yet comment on how well it works because I just installed it last night and my search for cops had no success. (Isnt it weird when you start looking for cops taking radar?)

Anyway, Black Widow makes a good one too, but you can always find a NEW Phantom IV on eBay for $199 from Electronics Outpost. Its a good deal considering the retail is $349.

I hate to burst your bubble but none of those units work, especially Phantoms, Car and Driver did a test on them that summed it up. The only magic is its ability to make your money dissapear as I recall was the quote.

As an aircraft tech earlier in my carreer I know how rardar works, you are not going to scramble it with anything even remotely that simple. On the other hand if you bought a used radar gun, cheap on ebay its very possible, a seriously illegal thing with extremely hefty federal penalties too

Dont take my word for it, go to alt.electronics and ask the engineers, all those devices are placebo's and in plain english rip offs

Yeah, the radar jammers on the market are junk. If they did work, they'd be illegal. However, I think the gizmo referred to here is a laser jammer . . . I've read a couple of tests that indicate laser jamming is indeed possible and legal (the FCC doesn't regulate the spectrum that laser falls into). IR LEDs are mounted on the plate frame to try to distort the return signal back to the gun. Although possible in theory, AFAIK, none of what's currently on the market is really worth the $$$. None are foolproof, but they may reduce the range at which you can be targeted, and that's about it. Here's a link to tests of a number of jammers/obfuscators (both radar and laser):
