My Next Truck

I've been looking for a truck to replace my 01 Tacoma , all the trucks seem to be going the car route not what I wanted. I found this today in Motor Trend exactly what I want!

Loaded for under $25,000 , that includes a bull bar winch , snorkel , safari rack and AC.

What do you guys think?

yea, but would you actually take that offroad? Id rather have the tacoma. Takes a beating.. Take that thing 200,000 miles then come back and see what you think. (im just giving you a hard time because i got into the whole TTORA thing now.)

Looks cool, what is it? Land Rover? Reminds me of the G500 kinda.

roderigo , yes it would get beat off-road and then some. My Taco is my first Toyota and even though I here they last a long time I have trouble believing it , I don't really have a reason just my old school upbringing , you know a vehicle is done after 100,000 miles. Believe it or not I got 80,000 miles on my 01 Taco so even though I haven't had any problems with the truck up til this point I'm kinda excpecting some soon. How many miles you got on your Taco?

Oh the truck is a completly new vehicle made in Brazil it's being released in the fall here in the states. the site is www.crosslander4x4.com

I dunno. It does look nice, but that's a lot of truck for only $25K. I would worry that quality is being sacrificed. I'm a firm believer in "you get what you pay for". Toyotas cost more initially, but they hold their value and (in general) run longer than domestics.

I've put 55,000 miles on my Taco in exactly two years, and I'm hoping it goes another 100,000. My next truck will probably be a Tundra w/headers, exhaust, maybe some nice rims...

My truck has 94,000 miles and no problems. Recently i had to replace my O2 sensor and thats it. My uncle has a 92 Toyota P/U and he has over 200,000 miles on it. He has replaced the clutch once and thats it. He used to live in Alaska and he commuted it home every now and then. We are in WA. Its a V6 and its still a beast.

I think you will be able to go with the tacoma for another 100,000 with only minor repairs. (of course my uncle doesnt wheel his) Dont know how long they last with that kind of abuse. It is a very reliable vehicle, and like was said, they hold their value.

That thing looks pretty awesome, I agree. Made by ARO, if I remember correctly? If you want to build up an SUV for 4-wheeling like that, there are plenty of 2001 Jeep Cherokees around that can be had for cheap. (Less than $25K and plenty capable.) They make a good platform for off-road use. If you can, find one with the Dana 44 rear axle. Here's a shot of my old one (a '90).

Cool looking ride! To me it looks like a cross between an early model bronco and a land rover.

I checked the link that detailbarn gave...not much information about the Crosslander on the site, including nothing on the dealer list.

I just hope that it will not be 4x4 replica of the cutting edge of Serbo-Croatian technology....the Yugo.
