Change Your Caps And Seals..

Keeping my fingers crossed. A few weeks ago my 99 Volvo's
CEL came on. On a hunch I mail ordered a new gas cap
and popped it on a few days ago. Went to get gas today
and WaLah when I started the car the CEL went out.

PM Moral : It's probably a good idea to change all your fluid
caps and seals every three years or so.

My friend's aunt has arthritis, and she can't tighten the gas cap on her car enough, so her CEL is usually on until her husband or somebody else can tighten it for her.

My wife's old Sport Trac actually had a light that would come on warning you that the gas cap was not on tight enough. Its crazy (but good) how stringent the government has gotten on evaporative emissions in the last few years.

This is crazy. I've heard stories from time to time about gas caps causing wildly varying problems but fail to understand how they ever make such a dramatic difference.

Well I suppose you could have a whole flaming car to go with that side view mirror 4DSC... (not like that would happen but I saw the avatar then the word gas... oh well)

The car makers should really make two seperate
lights, one for real engine/emission problems
and the other for gas tank pressure.

Money making I guess!

Its because newer vehicles were designed to run with a pressurized fuel system.
