Question Engine Restore...any validity??

Well, I've ALWAYS been wary of oil additives , but Engine Restore's ad seems okay. Maybe I'm going crazy.

Is there any truth to this product?? I'm running Mobil 1 in our '95 Chevy Astro...
It's just starting to idle rough...I keep the fuel system clean per schedule according to(and using) STP products....

Engine Restore claims to fix rough idle?!?! Anyone have experience with this product?? Please help comment!

Thanks!

In my completely nonprofessional opinion, I'd say forget it. I was under the impression that it is unnecessary and possibly even a bad idea to use oil additives.

Not that this is relevant or anything, but I just remembered ZMax... lol, what happened to them? Sued for false advertising, right? (I hate crap like that, false ad'ing / retarded infomercial material / ...)

There's some missing commas and improper punctuation, but everything's spelled right!

(oh, and yeah, maybe fuel injectors? I doubt an oil additive would do much.)

The noise could be from a number of problems, injectors, tappets etc. I would say fix the problem, dont hide it with a 'miracle' product.

We threw a can of one of these into the old OLD Honda commuting car because it was experiencing some valve guide wear and mild blow-by. I can't say the stuff really helped or hurt anything.

I read someplace that these things can sometimes just be oil thickeners (basically). Thicker oil can sometimes help with some wear-related problems.

I, as well as most of my gear head freinds, use 3M products for our injectors, fuel rails, throttle body, and gas additives. 5 out of the 6 cars we did it on stopped idleing rough, the other one we are still trying to find out, but it is a 1986 Parissienne withabout 180K. My buddy works a Jiffy lube, and they have a 3M treatment they do for $60, but I'm sure you could do it yourself for cheaper. I could find the product numbers we use too if you want.
