I love those "solutions". We'll ease traffic by making it artificially expensive to drive. Great thinking! That way only rich people will be able to drive.

Virginia toyed with the idea of charging a fee to drive in HOV lanes a while back. Thank goodness it fell through. Nothing like the government giving special privledges to those that can afford it. I guess someone remembered what "sic semper tyrannis" meant (Virginia's motto).

With London's excellent subway system, why would anyone want to drive anyway? I wonder how much they charge for all day parking at Car Parks? Twenty years ago when I lived in the U.K., in Newmarket, we'd always park at the first tube station we came to and took the subway from there. Getting around in London was so easy and it seemed pretty cheap, although I don't remember how much we paid.
