Lightbulb oil filter search

Looking for a quality oil filter for a 2000(yr) Audi A6 Quat. 4.2L. I tried Amsoil but they don't make one for my model Audi. K&N doesn't make oil filters at all, just air filters. The guy at Amsoil told me to put in a Hastings filter. I would like to find a better quality filter for the car.

K&N does make oil filters. Not sure if they have them for Audi though. Why dont you want to use a Hastings filter? They dont get much better than that.

Thanks for answering. I heard that Hastings was a pretty good filter. K & N doesn't have one for my model Audi. I'll look into the Hastings. Thanks again, Balgear.

I like the purolator pureone filter. It has a blackflow prevention valve and lots of filter media.

Some people here referenced this site before. I checked it out and there is a lot of good information on the forum. Everthing you ever wanted to know about oil and filters. Sort of like this site but with oil.

algear, I agree with dboat - check to see if Mobil One makes a filter for your Audi. From my experience Mobil One filters are one of the best. Oil analysis on my Camry showed them to be better when coupled with an OEM air filter than both Amsoil (Hastings) or the K&N. Testing will vary from vehicle to vehicle of course.

Here is an interesting site you may wish to check out if you haven't already looked at it.

Good Luck finding the right filter.

The problem with Pure One filters is they are so tightly packed then can actually restrict oil flow higher in the power band.

If you want the cream of the crop get the Mobil 1 filters. They are a total synthetic media. Be prepared to pay though, they are around $13/each.

I agree that a Mobil 1 filter or Hastings would be your best bet. Napa Gold filters are made by Wix and also very highly rated.

or get the bosch premium which is a synthetic blend and costs 5.49 which is half the price of the m1 filter. All k&ns, mobil 1s, and bosch premiums are made by champion labs. Another good filter is the napa gold or wix filter.
