Unhappy There's a time when all veichles must go

Well, since I'm in college and it's a pretty good distance from here, i need something more economical other than my truck. Truck is a 91 F150, 300 6, auto OD. It's ok on gas but not what I need and it is for sale. This was first truck i ever bought and it's been a damn good truck. So now I'm in the market for something more economical. I spotted a ranger been sittin over at one of the local dealerships in town here. Check this out, good buy or no?

1998 Ford Ranger XLT

Stepside shortbed

Auto OD

Power everything

40K miles

4cyl

factory CD player

price: $5995

Body: flawless

This is a really good deal so far and it's really worth looking into. I havn't tested it out yet but I need to talk to the parents. What do you all think, good buy or no???

My truck is For Sale and here are the details if anyone is interested.

1991 Ford F150 XLT Lariat

300 6

Auto OD

136K miles

Great shape

Dual fuel Tanks

Reg. cab long bed

AM/FM/CD

Tow pkg.

Runs great

I am asking $3000 o.b.o If you have a resonable offer, I will be more than happy to listen.

Dude you are going from one gas guzzler to another?!?!?!?!

I had a 2000 Ford Ranger Black XLT in college. It ate up more gass than my Dad's 2000 F-150. DO NOT get a Ranger!!!! A truck is a truck an SUV is an SUV they are all going to eat gas like crazy. My Ranger got 14 MPG from life till I dumped it this summer for my 2003 Maxima SE TE. I beg you dont get that Ranger you will regret it.

I had a 93 4-Runner that managed to get me the same gas milage as my Mustang did. Somewhere between 18-22 mpg on average. Tacomas are basicly just 2 door 4 Runners. That might be an option if you are looking for a truck with good fuel economy.

Least that's better than 12city 15highway!!!! Besides I hate foriegn cars with a passionate vengence. Yea they last forever, but there uglier than sin, and downright ****in expensive when you repair them. I ain't gettin no ****in Dodge Omni or some ****.

wow you sound like a friend of mine from back in high school... scary dude.

and no, you can't always have both what you WANT and what you NEED. If you NEED something economical, get something economical. If you WANT a truck, weigh the pros and cons.

I will say this however: if you're looking for something to get you 18-20MPG city, look into possibly a chevy s-10. From what I've heard, they are better than the fords as far as the 4cyl. trucks go.

Mellow out mang. The 14 mpg I got in my Ranger was on the HWY. Around campus I got about 12mpg. Get in where ya fit in man. But you ARE NOT going to see much of an improvement from a F-150 to a Ranger. Better shoot for the Ford Focus!

No, he's telling you that in his OPINION, you aren't getting what you want (fuel economy) by replacing a pickup with a pickup. If he's wrong, then he's wrong.. No need to get so upset over it.

Also, no one told you you HAD to get a foreign car.

OT::: There was a pretty bad flame in this thread.....now how come this thread is still open...while another thread that had no flaming at all was closed??

The mods aren't supermen. If you want to help us out then why don't you report stuff like this by clicking the 'WARN' button? I'm sorry that we miss a few threads here and there or that you don't agree with which threads get closed. This is a pretty thankless job that we do for free because we just want to keep Autopia a fun place to be. We are doing our best. Give us a break.
