Does this cover a cracked windshield ? (02 honda accord)

The strange thing is, i dont know how it happened. It's about half an inch below my wiper blade, a small and localized crack, and I just noticed it last week (after the snow storm on the east coast). Back then it looked like something hit it (rock) but it looks to be protected by the overhang of the hood.

Just yesterday I noticed it grew, about 5 inches long now

If it's a defect yes, possibly. If it's got an impact mark or similar you can forget it.
