regarding speeding and getting pegged

Hey all,

While driving in jersey this saturday, in saddle rock, i got pegged doing 76 in a 55. the officer was polite enough to tell me if i went to court that i could get charge reduced. I told the officer that i was trying to pass a truck in the middle lane...i was in right most lane...The cop didn't say anything besides "slow down, you there are four of you in the car"

I was surpirsed my max hit 76 so smoothly......thank god i was on the turnpike where i usually hit 120mph!!!...

Any advice for the court appreance???....first infraction in 7yrs...or so it seems....

tell the judge you would like him to take the good driving record statute into consideration....it should get you off the hook....no moving violations in the past 3 years or in the next two.

or you could offer to do defensive driving classes and they might let you down lower....

kinda ironic..... 76 must be a popular speed to get pegged at, since mine was 76 in a 35

Nizan, I know how you feel about Maximas moving. The highest I have had my '02 is 130 and the highest I have had my '94 is 125 (its limit). I got pegged for 93 in a 55 in June. However, I caught a major break when I went to ocurt. The cop wasn't there and the bond I posted was refunded to me. I think of this as my "Illinois Speeding Tax Refund."

In IL, you can post bond on the scene in order to keep your license. In my case, the bond was $105.
