BMW 8 Series

How does one buy an 8-series BMW? I see these cars in Beverly Hills and Malibu every so often. They are coupes with flip-up headlights. They look fantastic.

I am sure that BMW sold an 8-series back in the 60's or something, but these cars look brand new.

Here is some general information about the 8 series, run from '91 to '97. General Info

And also, an online place to buy them. 8 series shopping

If you look, the suggested prices in the information don't seem to follow what people are acutally asking for them, but they are around if you want to find one.

Happy Hunting

Here's another resource for you:

They are wonderful and complex cars, truly built to a standard rather than to a price. However, the newest ones are now five years old, so ownership and maintenance history is important. Good luck if you decide to search for one!

The 8 Series is possibly the only BMW I dont like. Most of the UK car magazines said it was to heavy and to complex for its own good but could make a good second hand purchase. For a car like that it MUST have a full BMW history and be near perfect. Fixing anything on an 8 Series will cost a lot of $$

Thanks, you guys!

Actually, I'm not in the market for one. I was just curious, becuase I have never seen them at a dealership. But I was shocked at the prices that people are asking. $25,000 for a six year-old 12-CYL car? Call me foolish, but that seems reasonable, even if it is an orphan.

My wife just bought a car. I wish we'd known about the used 8-series when she did!
