Re: I am officially in love with hot hatches

It's funny, some reviews talk about the C30 having a lot of torque steer, others say it doesn't have any.

It sucks that it seems so few C30s came with cruise control, the wheel looks kinda odd without buttons on both side. Do they have flappy paddles?

Here is the sticker:

Side note: This car is a pain to dry due to all the little corners and hidden pockets for water to trap. I ended up using a leaf blower.

I wish it were easier to find manual...
I hate auto.

I love the moose emblem.
It makes me think of other manufacturer's emblems...

If Ferrari uses a prancing horse,
Lamborghini a Bull,
I think Kia should be a Platypus.

Xtreme-Klean- That's a neat car I *really* like the paint, esp. in that close-up shot!

Heya frito, nice to see another MS3 owner. Come on over to Mazdaspeedforums.org if you haven't already.

Re: I am officially in love with hot hatches

Anyone heard anything about the new R20 GTI? Sounds sort of like an S3, 279hp out of the 2.0L turbo, and maybe AWD(i've heard reports confirming both ways). I can't imagine that it wouldn't be AWD, it'd be a tough sell based on having 60 more HP and that's all over the next GTI. Sounds like a cool car, and they should have all the info out in May at the 24hour Nurburgring race. Might be worth holding off on an R32 just to find out. It'll still suck that we don't get the S3.

To you MS3 guys: What's the deal on the next one? Still FWD and manual only?

Re: I am officially in love with hot hatches

I owned an '83 GTI (no, it wasn't the quickest car available), but I enjoyed every single moment of driving that car. A battery, the exhaust, a new set of Koni shocks, and a set of Pirelli P6 tires are all I replaced in 90,000 miles. The guy I sold it to bought another set of tires, replaced the brakes, and drove it for another 60.

I'm looking to replace my Focus ST this year, and even though I have thought about a BMW 128, I am wondering if it is worth the $8-9K more than a new GTI.

Re: I am officially in love with hot hatches

FWIW Jeremy Clarkson hated the BMW 1 series, but he was reviewing the the hatch version, not the coupe that we have to suffer through here in the US. He liked driving it, it was everything else he hated, the fact that to make it nice you have to spend a ton of money, the small space, etc. But then again we don't get the Focus ST here either (unless you count the SVT Focus which is damn near the same thing).

I wish we got the 135 hatchback. Especially if it was a sweet 3 door hatchback.

Re: I am officially in love with hot hatches

XRL,

The new Speed 3 looks to be an evolution of the current - not a drastic change. Same basic engine. Looks nice but the front end of the new Mazda 3 is a bit goofy.
I wish it shared more with the new Ford Focus in Europe

Re: I am officially in love with hot hatches

This is one of my favourites, caught the ad off a dealership. Why GM didn't make a Redline Astra like this I do not know, it would have been great.
