Re: New Genesis Coupe...wtf?
There's rumblings that Hyundai wants to spin the Genesis cars off into a new brand just called Genesis. So then coupe would be the model name. That's my guess, I dunno.
Haha, yeah I just noticed there was holes there too. I guess they put a little impression that holds the badge in the trunk, but come on, why the holes?

Re: New Genesis Coupe...wtf?
I've been posting for a while about what a sham Hyundai is. ALL of their new vehicles are blatant rip-offs from real, true quality cars. They are a disgrace to ethical business practice.
On top of that, I find this new coup horrendously hideous. No thanks.

Honda does that too, or at least they did. The emblem has pegs that stick into the truck and nuts or fasteners hold it on instead of double sided tape.

Re: New Genesis Coupe...wtf?
So I went down to the Hyundai dealership today to see about test driving one. Turns out they only have had 1 in so far, and that they sold it within 2 days (well, another dealership wanted their GT model, so they swapped the GT for a base, but that other dealer had someone who wanted the base as well, so they bought it from my local dealer). I was rather disappointed, but he said they should be getting another decent sized allotment this time in the next few weeks. He's gonna give me a call when they come in, so I will have my date with one then. He claimed he didn't hear anything about nav being a mid-year addition, but seemed to think that if they did add it, those would start showing up around fall. I'm still hoping for Summer. Then I might be able to find a good deal on a slightly used V6 Track w/ nav.
I got a cool little book though. So I'm pretty pleased with the trip. What I'm less pleased about is the fact that the 2.0t can't come with the LSD and automatic. The LSD is part of the Track package (which comes with 2-tone leather & cloth black/red seats on the 2.0t, 19" wheels, Brembos, suspension, HIDs, a spoiler, metal pedals, etc), but the 2.0t Track only comes is the 6 speed manual. The V6 Track however does correct this issue, and you can get the V6 Track (which doesn't have the 2 toned seats, and instead has the same Black Leather that the Base V6 has, the Grand Touring V6 has brown seats O.o) with either the 6m or 6a.
The 2.0t apparently isn't available with some of the goodies standard on the V6. Automatic Climate Control, ESC/TCS are the biggies, but "chrome lower body trim" and "premium door sill plates" are also not available on the turbo. Boohoo, right? And the V6 Track package DELETES the backup sensor option. I see this as a mis-step as well, as the Track is the top level most expensive model, it should be able to retain backup sensors.
And if anyone was wondering, yes, you can get it in "Take me to Jail Green"

There's a nice Yellow exclusive to the V6 Track model as well, along with the other expected colors, black, silver, white, red, blue, gray, and a light blue.
Just for fun, we can play a game of "Spot the Slight Tweaks Hyundai made to avoid a lawsuit from Infiniti over blatantly stealing the design of the G37"

Re: New Genesis Coupe...wtf?
I just bought a Gen Coupe GT last week and for all you doubters out there - let me tell you, this is an amazing vehicle. Performance and fit and finish are top notch, and it's very comprable to the 2008 350z that I'm coming from.

Re: New Genesis Coupe...wtf?
So is being comparable a good thing or bad thing?
What reason did you switch for?
Performance/past history aside, I still dont like the look of the front end, and I still have no clue why they chose to paste the word "coupe" everywhere as if no one knew it was one.
blink im really interested as to why you made the switch. Im assuming its a lease since you switched so soon.

Re: New Genesis Coupe...wtf?
I loved the Z, but I recently got married and wanted something just a little more practical. Most of the pics you've seen are of the Korean version, there are virtually no Coupe emblems at all outside of the exterior badging on the US version.

Re: New Genesis Coupe...wtf?
It's still a Hyundai. No matter what is copied itself after.

Would you say the same thing if someone had a Turbo ebrake lever in there 911 turbo?? Like they need to be reminded its a turbo 911??
And this rests the case on the Genesis...

Sure there's the whole "brand new" nonsense, and there might be some Hyundai fanboys, or something other than that, but there is no single advantage it has other than price. SO to be, used versions of them will almost HAVE to fall in line with some rather high depreciation.

IMO for the market they're going after the price difference between the Genesis and the G37/350z is a HUGE factor. Also, it uses the Mitsubishi EVO motor in the 2.0t version which is also HUGE in terms of aftermarket tuning and performance. Those two things alone give it a big advantage over the Nissan and the Infiniti from a tuner/consumer standpoint.
I guess we'll see how well it really does over time and how well the car holds up, but it could be a great value for a lot of people out there. I really like the way it looks personally, would I buy it? Probably not, but I'm not the person they're trying to target with this type of car. My next car will be something a little more "sophisticated".

Re: New Genesis Coupe...wtf?
It's actually not the Evo motors from what I've read. Someone did a teardown of it and while it is similar, it's not the same.
I wonder if it'd be possible to do a nav swap in them. Or something akin to that.
