One of the coolest cars I have detailed: Can you name this Porsche?

Completed this Porsche last Thursday, crazy 40 hour detail. Anyways 5 bonus point to the person who can name the model.

That looks mid to late 70's. The chin spoiler and the whale tail don't look factory, but I doubt you would be posting about some modified car, so that must be a factory special edition. They stopped calling the 911 the Carrera for many years around the time the 930 Turbo came out in the early 80's...that's all I got.

Re: One of the coolest cars I have detailed: Can you name this Porsche?

It's a 1973 Porsche 911 Carrera RS.

The value on these cars is all over the map because the cars were never officially imported over to the US until 1974. I do know of one Carrera RS Touring that went for $200k and another for sale for $250k.

By the way, it's a duck tail, not a whale tail. Whale tails were introduced on the 930's. Also, the front bumper is correct for a Carrera RS. It's designed to accomodate the oil cooler.

Re: One of the coolest cars I have detailed: Can you name this Porsche?

The RSR 3.0
1973 RSR 3.0

In 1974 an even wilder 911 was built: the carrera RSR 3.0. This car was built for homologation as a 2.7 'evolution'. Only 109 were produced. The RSR 3.0 had 20 bhp more power, but weighed 180 kg more than the 2.7 because the thin-gauge body steel of the first RS's had run out, so that normal steel had to be used. The heavier 'whale-tail', a bulkier front spoiler with large rectangular air intake, and even wider wheels than the 2.7 ( 9 inch rear, 8 inch front ) also added extra weight. This extra weigth explains why the RSR 3.0 wasn't much quicker then the RS 2.7, but because of the wider tires it did have better roadholding than the 2.7.
Of all 109 RSR 3.0's 60 were finished as roadgoing RS models.
1973 911 S, 911 RS and 911 Carrera

Thanks for the corrections. Is there airflow for the oil cooler? Those little grilles next to the fog(?) lights?
