I want something small with lots of available space to carry detailing gear with easy access. Good gas mileage and a sporty image makes it interesting.

I can afford the payments on a car, so I can afford the car, right?

I was going to work a second job this summer to help pay for a more expensive car, but I've started volunteering at a refugee shelter and I'd much rather spend my time doing that than having an OMGzuperHOTcar. I've really been at odds with myself and how I'm going to make a difference in the world. Maybe I'll just get old and selfish.

If I can find a low mileage 02/03 6 speed Maxima, that is what would replace my '02 (automatic) Maxima (really don't like the '04 and newer versions) but they are getting harder to find. More realistically, it would be a 6 speed Altima coupe.

I was lucky, the car was almost repoed by the bank because he fell behind in his payments. I got the car for a steal. I do feel bad for the guy because he lost his job but hey I have a new porsche.
My advice is "BUY when everyone is selling and SELL when everyone is buying"

I can afford the payments on a car, so I can afford the car, right? | You have the right mind set. I just turned 31, and it's only been in the past 4 years that I've realized saving as much money as you can, and not always increasing your life style once you start making more money as you get older, is the right road to go down. Try to tuck every spare dollar you can away into savings or a 401k, and learn how to invest it. When you're older and able to retire with peace of mind, it'll all be worth it. Plus if you manage your money well, you'll be able to afford a nice car when you're in your 30's, w/o having to be in debt for it.
To answer the topic's question:
My car wife's car was recently totalled and we researched and bought her a Honda Fit. Inexpensive, fantastic MPG, and surprisingly very roomy inside (both front and back). Real fun little car to drive as well. Couldn't be happier our decision.

My advice is "BUY when everyone is selling and SELL when everyone is buying" | Which Porsche did you get?
As for me, I'm waiting for the Porsche GT2 to arrive. List is limited for orders.
I like the Audi R8 looks, but after driving one, the steering feels too numb and not as true as a Porsche steering. R8 does handle very well, but a bit squeemish in the corners and brakes are touchy. Sure looks really nice though!
Then, for the best bang for the buck, the new GT-R is the way to go for a serious sports car that can out lap a Turbo Porsche! Very serious car for a whole lot less $$.
Also, I need a new foul weather car. Need a small SUV or wagon, not sure yet on what.

Deanski | I haven't even considered Audi's for years. They used to be notorious for mechanical problems. Has that changed? And I don't think you can ever go wrong with a Porsche (unless you buy a used one already with problems of course)
