comfortable seats

I was wondering what you guys and gals think are the most comfortable car seats out there no matter what type of car or truck or how much they cost. I hear the Mercedes S550 and Lexus LS460 have some of the best any thoughts or opinions? you figure that is where we spend most of the time in the car so why not have the best.

Any Recaro seat works well for me.

Re: comfortable seats

Well, this should be classified into econo, luxury and exotic categories! My Honda Civic and CR-V seats are rather comfortable for 4+ hours drives.

Re: comfortable seats

mkv GTI has a great balance with their leather seats very supportive but not like race seats. thick side and leg bolsters but great lumbar adjustments. I can adjust to the perfect long distance...course they aren't the softest seats but best I've had

That's the first thing that crossed my mind too But if your car didn't come with 'em, installing them can be tricky these days what with all the integrated safety systems and such.

I find that the firmer/more supportive/"sport" seats are always my preference, especially for long-distance work, but that's just me. A lot of things are gonna depend on the driver's body (e.g., leg/thigh length, how big/wide you are, etc.) and how aggressively you drive (for anything over 0.6g or so I want a seat that'll hold me in place).

Re: comfortable seats

I'll also agree with the Recaro statement, but the OEM seats in my old 16v GTI were wonderful.

I worked on a Lincoln Continental this week and I forgot how comfy those seats were. It's like driving a couch down the road.

The seats in the 16v usually are Recaros, I thought.

Re: comfortable seats

At a car show one time I sat in a Mitsubishi EVO 8 and I felt like I was in lumbar heaven.

Re: comfortable seats

I absolutely love the seats in the last gen. Jetta GLIs. I believe they were Recaros. The leather seats that were in my 94 Camry were also extremely comfortable (in a completely different way of course).

Re: comfortable seats

I find the MkV cloth GTI seats very good. Also the latest BMW 3 series sport seats with lumbar are outstanding.

The Germans seem to know how to make good seats... unlike American car makers!
