I like that choice.

EDIT: I also see you're in my back yard.

Re: S2000 or G35 coupe

Thanks, SpoiledMan & Carbon!

SpoiledMan, yes, we're very nearby. Anytime local Autopians want to get together I'm up for it. I'm going to be working on the finish throughout the week...hopefully...if it stops raining! I'll post progress pics if anyone's interested.

Carbon, yes, with all the options the sticker was just over $40K. But since it was an '07 it was reduced considerably. With some negotiating I paid 34K OTD with a 5/yr warranty. For what it's worth, after signing all the paperwork, the finance guy showed me his computer screen and showed they took a loss of $2,500 on the car. True or false? I don't know. Regardless, I do feel happy with the final price..

Will do.

The finish actually feels surprsingly smooth. It was a showroom car so perhaps that's why. Still, I'll clay before polishing. Can't wait to have it swirl-free.

That is one draw back of getting an "old age unit"...they will spray if off with a pressure washer (using water only) then they wipe it down. You will find a lot of useful info on s2ki.com. I really miss mine. Enjoy.

Re: S2000 or G35 coupe

Awesome... and congratulations on your purchase. I'm happy you tried both and found what you wanted.

The hard top is a sweet option (expensive too, usually) and would have sold it for me since I highly dislike convertibles. I can't wait to see the red cleaned up... it's going to look oh so sweet!

Very nice! Glad you took the time to compare and decide what was best for you. For some reason, that car looks like one Michael Schumacher would drive to me.

Re: S2000 or G35 coupe

Thanks again everyone.

I did a bit of work on it today with the PC just to get an idea of what I was working with. Surprisingly, claying removed virtually nothing. The passenger front fender polished up fairly nicely, but the hood not so much.

I tried OC/OP as well as SIP/106. After doing a first pass with SIP I realized I was dealing with ss paint...I had no idea. I was a little concerned the SIP may be too aggressive, but the results were very good, especially for one pass with the PC. The OC worked well too.

It was tough to get full sun shots as the sun was going in and out of clouds

Here's the fender before...

And after...

Here's what I'm dealing with on the hood...

This is after a pass of OC/OP. It's improved, but I think I may switch to the rotary with foamed wool to quicken up the process and likely get a better finish. I may continue working on it throughout the week, or just wait until Saturday to do the entire car. When done I'll post in click & brag.
