I'd say that's the case with any car

Re: S2000 or G35 coupe

I must say I did a double-take when I saw this thread:

Since these cars are most definitely NOT in the same class, I would personally say, "Hey, why not both?"

The S2000, as mentioned already, is most certainly a performance-oriented car, it is horrendously fun to drive, what with a 9k redline and VTEC.

The G35 is a less performance-oriented, more practical vehicle that can belt out some good performance when needed.

Do you have more than one other person in your family? Do you have to carry a lot of stuff with you to work or elsewhere? Or, Do you want to have an INCREDIBLE driving experience and the smoothest shifter to be found ANYWHERE?

Altogether, depends: If you need a car that will be practical and fun-to-drive, go G35, else, if you are looking for a fun-as-heck car that handles like a pro and can sack some practicality, go with the S2k.

On a side note, nice choice of cars, although an R would make for more fun on the way to work, not particularly practical though.

The S2000 can carry alot in its trunk if packed correctly. Someone on here had a mobile detailing business they ran out of one.
It was a joke Captain Serious. I too love the S2000, but really, how practical is that car? Zilch in practicality. A detailing business out of a S2000? Now I've heard it all.

Thanks, and yeah I would really like an R, but man would I be worried about hitting a deer on the country roads I take

Re: S2000 or G35 coupe

Nice cars Dino, I too am a big Honda product fan...just wanted to clear that up with my comments earlier.

I have personally owned: 2000 FBP Civic Si, 97 CW ITR, and a 06 VBP RSX-S
My father had a 00 NSX-T with a titanium exhaust and TE-37's.

Looking at the above, one might guess I have a thing for high revving Honda products. Go figure that I now own a high revving Nissan product. (07 350Z, 7500rpm HR motor)

Re: S2000 or G35 coupe

As has already been said, it is a matter of what you are looking for in your car. Since it sounds like this will be your daily DD, I would personally get the G35. Great styling, comfortable, and still sporty when you want to open it up. The S2000 reminds me of the Lotus Elise. It is nimble and semi-exotic, but will beat the crap out of you driving it hundreds of miles.

Re: S2000 or G35 coupe

Thank you everyone for your feedback.

I spent the weekend driving examples of both cars, new and used, and finally decided on the S2000.

They really are two wholly different driving experiences. And I don't feel either car is better or worse than he other...just different. I just preferred the feel of the S over the G35.

It's a new '07 that the dealer was eager to move off the lot. I was very happy with the deal that I got, especially considering the hardtop was included. I felt so-so about the looks of the rear wing, but the more I looked at the car the more it grew on me.

Here are some pics. As you can see in the close up there's the typical dealer-wash-induced swirls. I'll likely work on it throughout the week and have it fully detailed by next weekend.

Again, thank you all for your feedback!

Swirls compliments of the dealer.
