GOT THE SIVLER TODAY .... WOOOOT - the downside? I got my work cut out for me... plenty of swirls, major touch up needed from garage door accidents, and high-heel shoes on the door jambs.... sweeeeeeeeet

My Emerald Green 2002

This is a fairly dark color and I have no problems with it. If you are in the woods a lot, then of course silver.

You have a nice Runner sir! Mine is exactly the same minus the 4wd and colored wheel arches. I agree about the silver if you offroad!

Congrats on the new rig.

Black would have been the end of your free time as you know it- 3rd Generation Black 4Runners are SINGLE STAGE and very soft. I owned a '97 Limited and "played" with that paint on almost a monthly basis.

Re: Black or Silver 4runner....

Detail Doc brought up a very good point. If you're OCD and I think most people are on this forum, go with the charcoal gray. Charcoal is a nice compromise between the two extremes. I have a black garage queen and and charcoal Tundra daily driver. There's no way I would want a black daily driver. Like tdekany said you'd get about 20 minutes of enjoyment from it and then freak out as all the dust keeps landing on it. Some cars look really nice in silver like Volvo S60's because they have other things that help accentuate the car like nice body lines. Not sure the 4Runner falls into that category. I'm also not sure if you can get a 4Runner in charcoal. I know my girlfriend couldn't get a gray 05 Highlander because they don't make all Toyota's available in all colors. Check out this link and you'll see how easy it is to care for and make gray look really sharp.
