just had black 2006 range rover detailed still scratches
hey all,
so the past week i had my 2006 dark black range rover fully detailed. clayed, cut polished, sealent. tools used were a random orbital and a rotary polisher. this was done by a detail shop which has been car detailing for the past 20 years with plenty of experience. after getting my car back after it was detailed i looked up real close and noticed there were scratches all over the paint throughout the car. these weren't noticeable scratches from far away... when i looked at the car far away it looked amazing. i dont remember there being these scratches there before getting it detailed. are those scratches meant to be there from polishing? i mean after the car was detailed its not like there were swirl marks all over the place and the car looked like ****... from a distance the car looked unreal and it was extremely smooth to touch.
any ideas on how the scratches got there?

Dirty pads? Didn't clay? Could be a lot of things. Shoot he may have dropped a pad on the floor and continue using it with some dirt on it! Yeah pictures would help.

If you want an expert analysis, you really need to post some photos of what you are talking about.

Re: just had black 2006 range rover detailed still scratches
I would bet on either inferior quality towels being used or they used a finishing polish via dual action and failed to completely break down the abrasives, or they didn't cut deep enough to remove all the flaws. Either way, a quick pass of a good quality finishing polish ought to fix it.

I agree, sounds like they wiped it down with towels that were either dirty or not very soft.

Could be because the car is dark black, which is always harder to work with than regular black

Take it back to them, if you paid for light scratch removal they should honor that and make it right. If you do go back take a look at there lighting if you can, they may have seen a scratch free car inside, sometimes you have to check in the sunlight, of course with 20yrs experience they should have seen everything aand took care of it the first time, or informed you that some could not be removed and why.
