Scratch repairing using a spray gun

Hi everybody,

I have got an ugly deep knife scratch on my champagne Mazda door. The scratch is pretty thin but very deep (down to the premier coat and beyond).

I have tried to paint the scratch using the following method:
1. Masked the borders of the scratch very accurately using masking tape.
2. Sprayed a layer of PPG coded pigment coat over the scratch
3. Sprayed 2 layers of clear coat

I thought that the result would be better than using a touch up pen or applying the pigment coat with a paintbrush, but to my surprise the result is very bad and the scratch is still very visible to eye.

Does anybody have recommendation about how to fix thin scratches using a spray gun or airbrush?

Thanks

Ori
