More Noob Questions

Stupid questions I am sure but here it goes.

I am OK with how to wash and dry the car, care for leather, tires etc.

1) When i am ready to wax, do I need to use a buffer to buff out the wax when done or can I do it by hand? What is prefered for a new Porsche car Dark blue.

2) What is the differance betwen polishing and waxing? What is the Porter used for? The idea of using a drill type device on my new paint scares me.

3) Since the car is NEW what should I look to do in the first 3 months? Washing is understood but does it need a wax? What about the polish?

4) Does new car leather need a prep of any kind before i star tto use it for protection, or is it more a clean it when it is dirty type of thing?

By hand is fine. Prefered is preference.

2) What is the differance betwen polishing and waxing? What is the Porter used for? The idea of using a drill type device on my new paint scares me.

Polishing is prepping the paint for wax. Most polishes are for removing marring, oxidization, etc. Basically cleaning the paint for the wax.

The porter cable is for polishing/waxing but by no means mandatory. It's also not a drill type device.

3) Since the car is NEW what should I look to do in the first 3 months? Washing is understood but does it need a wax? What about the polish?

Don't polish unless you need to. I'd say a nice AIO (ZAIO, Klasse AIO, Prime, etc) by hand would clean the paint up pretty nice and then top with a wax or sealant.

4) Does new car leather need a prep of any kind before i star tto use it for protection, or is it more a clean it when it is dirty type of thing?

Clean when dirty, protect when neccessary.

Re: More Noob Questions

Sorry on #4 i meant to say, do I need to do anything to NEW leather to make it harder to stain or do I simply wait until it needs a good cleaning to apply leather condioner. Basicaly does leather cond. work like wax and help keep stuff off of the leather or does it work like shampoo and clean dirt off leather?

Condition it now so it prevents cracking later on. I put Z10 on my leather and my seats look just as nice as they did when I got the car last October.
